Mom's Healthy Secrets - a review

Not too long ago I came home to find a sample of Mom's Healthy Secrets waiting at my door. Being positively ravenous I welcomed the thought of pairing my sample with some yogurt and calling it dinner.

Question was would it be any good? A quick review of the nutrtional info revealed that it was slightly higher on the carbohydrate count given the sample size. Still if it was filling it would probably be worthwhile.

The ingredients list was definitely impressive. Full of yummy organic goodies! A quick once over also identified the fruits that were likely responsible for the elevated carb count.

The sample itself looked yummy
sitting there enticingly in the package. And the taste . . .

A DEFINITE winner!!! It was like a customized granola product - but way cheaper. Truth is it wasn't overly sweet but also not overly bland. The variety of textures made my mouth very happy indeed! And the portion was just large enough to fill my tummy.

Overall verdict? Not only would I recommend it but I would also buy it myself - and soon!!!

Unfortunately for my American friends it seems this is one product which is currently only available in Canada. But given that it's carried by Wholefoods maybe it will arrive soon to a supermarket shelf near you! :o)

Que Pasa in the Casa

Hola bloggies!!! I've missed you so much!!!!

Sentencing on my big bad murder trial will take place in a few hours. Which means at long last my life can return to it's normal state. Meaning blogging, running, training, hopefully getting rid of this cold, a vacation on the Coast, and a new friend to boot.

Want to see some pictures of what I've seen and done since we last caught up?

For starters I bought this bad boy. I figured I might as well join the club! :oP lol

I thrived in Victoria when I was working out with a trainer. Here in the Rockies I don't have a trainer and thus I slack. I'm hoping Tony will be my virtual trainer and help me regain top form.

On one particular day when I was going to go stir-crazy the Fiance took me on a jewel of a hike!!!

The views were spectacular in spite of the fact you couldn't see the top of the mountains. It's started snowing now so they look even more impressive. I have plans to go back up there on a crystal clear day and take more pictures!

One thing I definitely neglected during the trial was exercise. Truth be told I was working so much I would only really come home to sleep. It wore
me down. Which is probably why I have Bern nursing a cold for weeks now.

Mental note: NEVER do that again! It's not cool to
feel like your musceles are undergoing atrophy!

Thankfully (no pun intended) I did get to take some time out for Canadian Thanksgiving! Which obviously meant some yummy eats! Wooohooo!! :o)

Like my pecan pie? Twas delicious!!!

As per the Fiance's request I made lamb - formerly my favourite mean. I ate sone and quickly discovered there's no going back. I'm solidly a pescatarian! In fact my mom has promised to make me lobster for Christmas! lol :oP

For Thanksgiving Sunday we decided to attend a service at a local heritage site (like a pioneer village of sorts). They decided to
host the service in the old 1800s church.

Let me tell you if there are brownie points in Heaven for sitting through a cold service, we scored BIG time!!! lol The heating system wasn't working so we sat in -12C weather!!!!! It was nuts! In fact I didn't take off my ski jacket all service long. :oP

After the service we promptly headed to the local bakery and warmed up with a piping hot bowl of soup.

It's a lovely bakery! They bake with grains milled on site. They also try to stick to heritage baking methods.

Plus who can argue with results like these! lol A ridonculously yummy cherry pie! :o)

Other than that, I've been working on acquiring a new friend. This is Daisy - she's coming home this Friday!!!!!!!!

We plan on being buds for a very long time!! :o)

Isn't she insanely cute?!?!? She's a half Bichon Frise and half Shihtzu. That makes Daisy a Zuchon or Shichon. :o)

So there you have it - you're all caught up now! Look for another post (a review) later tonight!

Happy Tuesday amigos!!! :o)

And.....it's a wrap!!!!

I'm just about done the murder trial I've been working on for more than a month. It's been great in terms of trial work but it has been exhausting and draining on many fronts. Which is probably why my body is about to give in. :o(

Today I woke up with a fever and a cough. Given that there's an H1N1 outbreak in my small Rocky Mountain town I decided to go home early and rest up. The picture above shows the massive amounts of vitamins and good stuff I've been downing like a mad woman!!!

Good news is I'm feeling much better and with the trial over I cam FINALLY return to my regular posting schedule. Yaaaay!!!

But for now it's bed time - nighty night bloggies! :o)

A Date and a Dream Team - the wedding edition

Hola bloggies:

Please excuse my lack of posting. I've been living in a bit of an all encompassing work mode as of late. I think of it as my first degree murder cave. I have a rather large case going on at the moment and until we wrap (hopefully in a week) I won't be blogging much. But that means when I come back I'll have a ton to share with you.

So please bare with me! :o)

I did however make a special exception to emerge from my cave to share some AWESOME news with you - we have a Wedding Date!!!!!!!!!!

We will be getting married November 10, 2010 in Cabo, Mexico

Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!! The contracts have been signed and everything is good to go. We're both super excited. Since March I've been engaged but it's only now that it feels like this is actually going to happen. Awesome.

The picking of a date also means that I can introduce you to some of the vendors that will officially make-up my fabulous wedding dream team! Shall we?

Chris+Lynn - Photography

The Fiance and I would like to present our official wedding photographers. The absolutely fabulous Chris+Lynn (based out of Vancouver but available for worldwide travel):

It's no word of an exaggeration to say that I have been in LOVE with their work forever! I first came across their blog years ago and have been following their posts ever since.

We love them in part due to their ability to capture the beauty of the surroundings of the wedding location. This is particularly important for a destination wedding! And I have no doubt that they'll be able to show the beauty of Baja - especially since they're building their dream home a couple of hours from our wedding venue!

They have been my DREAM photographers for as long as I can remember!!!!

Honestly we're thrilled to bits that they're a part of our team! :o)

Joe Simon Productions - Cinematography

I'm not going to lie. This was a really difficult decision to make. I love Joe's work but I also loved Still Motion's. The fiance and I went back and forth on this decision but in the end we chose the team that most suited our style, relative youth, aesthetic, and budget. Truth be told we're beside ourselves with our choice!!!!

Joe Simon Productions is based out of Texas (also available for worldwide travel) and is an amazing award winning cinematographer who shoots both in Super 8 and HD. Joe will be shooting our wedding in HD and out of the whole deal we'll get a trailer, a highlights film, and a feature film. Brilliant bang for our buck to be honest!

NOTE: It appears you'll have to click the hyperlink under the vimeo icon to reach the videos. A lot of cinematographers have begun to disable embedding after a rash of incidents were people "stole" other's worked and claimed it as their own. Sorry!

Want to see his AMAZING work? Here is a trailer from a recent destination wedding he shot in the Cayman Islands:

Incredible, eh? Joe is also a master at capturing the scenic surroundings of destination weddings. A definite must in our cinematographer of choice!

Want to see some more of his brilliant work? This is a sample of a wedding highlight he did for a young couple that were married in Texas. A tear-jerker for sure:

Obviously Joe Simon is ridiculously talent but his aesthetic and sense of style was perfect for us. His approach is young, fun, and yet classic. I have no doubt I will end up with some amazing work and I can't wait to share it all with you!!!!!!!!

So what do you think peeps? Not bad so far! :o) I'll have more to share with you as we progress but I wanted to share the vendors we have definitely secured.

See you next time bloggies - hopefully sooner rather than later!!!
