Vacation Recap - Part Dos

Hola peeps!

Wooo it's been a crazy couple of days around here. In fact I worked quite late on Friday, took Saturday off, and then I worked pretty well most of Sunday (today). It's 9pm as I write this and I just got home not too long ago.

Eeek!!! But what can I say? I'm prepping for a pretty big jury trial (as big as they come) so I've been putting in some extra hours. I love my job though so it's really not that bad. That's not to say however that I wouldn't have loved to kick back on my Sunday afternoon. But there's always next weekend! :o)

Running Towards a Half - Update

Friday, June 12th

I decided to turn Friday into a cross training day. I kind of mixed it up and did it boot camp style! :o)

I would run for about 5 minutes then do walking lunges for a couple of minutes, back to running, then squats, back to running and then tricep dips . . . well you get the idea. It was an awesome workout and it really pushed me in ways I wasn't expecting. I don't usually do squats and lunges outside but I have to confess it made me feel strong. I kind of hearted it.

After that workout I came home and stretched. I'm still getting used to training again so I've been trying to stretch and get limber. It's taking a bit of time but I can feel myself making progress.

Saturday, June 13th

On Saturday I rested. I like Saturdays. :o)

Sunday, June 14th

Today I woke up at 5 am (!) in the morning to head out for my "long" run.  But guess what!??! I wasn't alone! The fiance headed out with me! :oD

Words can barely begin to explain just how excited I am with this new development. The fiance has a goal to get really healthy and I want to be there to support him every step of the way! Besides, maybe I'll even get a race partner for my half marathon out of it.

In total we ran 3.5 miles today. We both felt good. In fact we could have easily kept on running another 3 miles or maybe more. But since we're upping our mileage slowly we chose to stick to the training plan.

I think I'm going to try to get my runs in before work from now on. It may be tough but it's a great way to start the day. Besides that Rocky Mountain sunrise was something else!!!

Vacation Recap - Part Dos

I woke up on the Friday morning in Vancouver and realized I had a million and one things to do. But I wanted to make sure I squeezed in some quality time with my mom.

And what better way to do it then by going for a run?

I'm SO proud of my mom!!! She ran 1.5 miles (non-stop - go mom!) from our hotel to Hallelujah Point.

When we got to Hallelujah point (aptly name) we had a moment. My mom and I prayed and gave thanks to God. Getting to the point of being called to the bar hasn't been easy. At times it's been a struggle. But I have been blessed. I know I have been blessed. And it was important for my mom and I to take that time and have that moment.

It's one of those memories I'll treasure always.

After running a ton of errands I was able to return to the hotel and get ready for my ceremony. But not before the fiance could give me a Call to the Bar present!!!!

Eeek!!!!! :oD

Want to see what was inside (excuse the blurry picture - I was kind of excited)?

I was thrilled with the fiance's choice. I had kind of hinted that Tiffany & Co. was right near the courthouse but the bracelet he chose was even better than what I had expected. It's not too delicate and it's classic enough that I can wear it with my judicial robes in court!

From there it was time for some last minute preparations before running down to the courthouse for my long awaited Call!!!

To be continued . . .

PS: Part of this post decided to underline itself. Don't know why. Please ignore it!

It's always good when you hint at something and the boy gets it ;) I need to find me one of those...

Sounds like your training is coming along - it must have been nice to have some company on Sunday morning. (But wow, 5am is EARLY!)

That is a beautiful bracely! The man has great taste. :)

Marlene,

It was early . . . but it means I have some time to wake up, put on contacts, run, cook/eat breakfast with the fiance, have him get ready for work (he left at 7:40am), and maybe chill for about 15 minutes before he had to leave.

Had to squeeze it in somehow! :o)
