A Reason to Look Forward to Mondays

Hola Bloggies:

Those of you that read my blog know I take part in a weekly Monday night doggy hike. But have I mentioned that after every hike we’ve now started incorporating a dinner? Allow me to show you some pictures . . .

Sharing wine and good food is a fantastic way to end a Monday night. It makes all the difference between dreading Monday and absolutely looking forward to Mondays. And that shift is a GIANT win in my books!

Our dinners aren’t complicated – rather simple really. Some grilled protein of choice, a salad, and a starch. I’m of the opinion, however, that simple meals are often the best. Especially in the middle of summer-like weather.

The idea is that every week someone else will host the dinner. It hasn’t been our turn yet but the FiancĂ© and I have given it some thought. My casa isn’t really suitable for entertaining so I think we’ll host the dinner at a local park. We have a brilliant Weber Q (100) bbq that is totally portable and grills up an absolutely lovely meal. That way we can host even though the casa is really not good for inviting people over.

I kind of love our new tradition. It’s the kind of thing that makes a girl feel more at home in this Rocky Mountain town. In fact I daresay I’m really looking forward to our walks. Even in the dead of winter.

Yaaaayyyy for wonderful Monday hikes + dinner!

Do you have a casa that’s good for entertaining? Did you ever have a too small home like mine? What did you do? Did you still invite friends over?

I dont entertain alot-I would love to but in LA everyone lives SO far away. And I have 4 cats and a dog-that always freaks people out!!!

I love entertaining in the summer, because we have a GORGEOUS backyard!!! Winter time, not so much...

What a GREAT tradition to start! I love how you are working to be a part of your community and finding people with similar interests. Love it!

The place I lived in Vic was not suitable to entertaining, and it sucked! I never invited people over because of it, even though I would have liked to.

Now that I'm back at the 'rents, sure, I have space to entertain, but my family is ALWAYS here. So again...I don't. Le sigh.

Southbaygirl,

I have to admit I'm not much of a potato fan but these were fabulous. Lightly crispy. Really really good.

Jessica,

I actually find winter time entretaining easier. Mostly because you can serve one pot meals!

That Pink Girl,

We're trying. Admittedly, it's not easy to make friends here but we're definitely doing our best.

Marianne,

Funny thing is the places where I lived in Victoria were fabulous for entretaining. I miss them!

I used to live in a teeny tiny bachelor apartment and did not have people over very often - there was basically standing room only!

Moving your hosting turn to the park is a great idea - almost like a picnic! And I figure all of the people in your walking group are outdoorsy :)
