Roughing it – Rocky Mountain Style

Hola Bloggies:

So by this time you’re well versed in my Banff adventures! But did you know I also tried camping?

And while this wasn’t my first time camping, it was my first time car camping.

IMG_1380

All the previous times I had gone camping I had really roughed it in the wild.

IMG_1381

Think loading all your gear into a canoe, rowing for hours on end, then setting up camp in a totally remote back country kind of place.

IMG_1382

Admittedly, even with car camping I was kind of afraid of the animals.

IMG_1390

I find the thought of encountering a cougar (or a grizzly) incredibly terrifying.

IMG_1386

Turns out I had nothing to worry about at all.

IMG_1388

The campground was much too noisy and well lit for any animals.

IMG_1392

Or me for that matter.

IMG_1393

At 1:30 I gave up trying to fall asleep outside and crawled into my car.

IMG_1389

I know, eh!? Giant. Car. Camping. Fail.

IMG_1376

Maybe I’ll try it again; but I’m in no hurry.

Question: Have you ever gone camping? Back woods style or car camping? Did you enjoy it?

OMG I love camping. I've only ever done car camping. My husband is going back woods camping in Aug with his cousin, uncle and cousin's brother in-law.

I've only been camping twice. The first was the real deal: hiking and sleeping at the summit of a mt. Technically, I did not sleep (I was afraid of being eaten by a mountain lion). Car camping was only slightly better. I fell asleep, only to be awoken by our campfire randomly re-igniting itself. I was not built for the wilderness. :)

Looks like you had fun! I have to admit I have never been camping...if I have it was before I can remember. Kind of weird because I like the outdoors and bugs don't bother me. Hmm

When me and Eric used to have our Ford Escape (rip, I miss having an SUV so much! Haha) we used to fold down the back seats and camp in it. We did that several times and I LOVED IT! Felt so much safer and slept so much better than in a tent! Now we tent camp. :) Haha

Miranda,

You should try back country camping. It can really be very cool!

lol There's nothing it with heading to a luxury hotel instead! I'm a big proponent of the Westin Heavenly Bed! LOL

Jocelyn,

I figure camping is the kind of thing that's worth trying at least once in your life. If you don't like it then you're done but you may discover something you love!

I've done a whole whack of camping, from car camping to take a boat to some spot and set up camp there kinda camping. I've camped through rain, hail, and insane windstorms. It's always fun, and I've never once worried about bears or other creatures getting me :)
